Animal Alphabet Project

Throughout the 2010 -2011 school year, the Cole school second grade and multi-age students worked on a research project with Mrs. Boulay in the Library Media Center. The goal of the project: to create a web site! Students used the skills and the information that they learned throughout the project in order to share information with others, an important 21st Century Skill!

The major steps of the project were:

  • Step 1- Using the mobile lap top computer cart, students gained skills in safely and successfully navigating the Internet.
  • Step 2- Students chose an animal to research and then gathered and recorded information about this animal onto a Word document template that they downloaded from the Library Web Site.
  • Step 3 - Students created animal portraits in Art class with Mrs. Dalton and then learned how to insert a photograph of their art into their animal documents. They then learned how to find other images of their animals on the Internet and inserted these into their document to complete the project.
